What should I have on my Website?
These pages will give you ideas of what pages you want on your website and what content you display on them.
General Content
- Don't forget to try to include some of the phrases you listed as the phrases you would expect search engines to find your site under.
- It is ok to repeat information on more than one page. You may want to have your contact details on the footer of every page, but you may also want them in the 'Contact Us' Page.
Products and Services may be mentioned on your home page and go into greater detail in other pages. - Put links in from one page to other pages in the content of the page as well as the menu. That way if viewers are reading the content and want to find out more about a specific issue, you have already highlighted a link directly to the page.
- Art work is very important on a website. You will want some art work on all your pages, in the header of your template. You will also want to show off work you have done or products you sell throughout your pages.
- If you have Artwork for business cards or invoices or letterheads you will want to keep the same designs throughout your business and that includes your webpage. Provide these and we will incorporate them into the look of your website.
Home Page
- This is most likely going to be the first page your viewers see. It will need something to catch their eye so they know where to start looking at the page from. Remember, people don't read web pages from the top left hand corner down. They usually start in the middle and see what stands out most.
- Bearing in mind the above, search engines love words and do read your sight from top down. The start of your content on the home page is the best place to put those phrases you want the search engines to find.
- Do you have a picture that sums up your business? It may be your work vehicle or the work you have done, or a shop front. Maybe this is the Eye catcher you can use on your home page.

Other Information
- Can you offer the page viewer additional advice? People love something for free and it will draw them to your site. If you are a plumber you could have a trouble shooting page so customers can try to fix basic problems themselves before calling you. This will not only save you from call outs that are a waste of time but also impress the viewer who will be more likely to visit your site again and contact you for your services.
Other information you can provide are links to other pages the viewer of your site may find useful. For example you could direct viewers to the sections of your suppliers sites that show the technical details of the products your sell.
